I don't think so, it doesn't tell you the wattage. It says 3.5 but I think that's overall. The only way you are going to get something for under $50 is second hand or T5 perhaps, but bear in mind t5 lighting is cheaper up front but you have to replace the globes every 8 months. I always battled heat with them too.
