Put something soft under the actual air pump, I find it helps the most with dampening the noise.

I used to go to Hi-tech aquariums in brookvale. Moved out a little and now I go to a store in castle hill, the guys there are great and it's huge! I've never heard of the slipper suckers and st.George is a bit too far away for my taste.

I use the Stellar one rated for 60-100Gallons, then use a flow limiter to slow it down which also makes it quieter. I have it in my room and running all night and i can only hear it slightly when i try lol.
Also just noticed everyone who's replied are all from Aus
