What is this?

This is coming off my filter floss, so I am guessing that this is organic waste and is not beneficial bacteria because it is settling to the bottom of my at the moment test tank/ cycling/soon to be son's room tank lol.

You can't see the bacteria, that's just detritus.

K thanks that's what I figured, and it is bad so I guess I'll have to change or at least clean out my filter floss every day or so until it is under control. That is probably why my nitrates stay about 20-40 except the first day or so after water change.

I rinse filter floss once a week, just do a quick syphon and suck it out.

Its bad, a quick suck won't make a difference. I just did a water change today too 50%. So I'll get it next time, I think it is just building up in the sandbed. I usually just hover the siphon over the aragonite, but gonna get in there next time to make sure I get a good bit.
