What kind of snail is this?

Just noticed this little hitchhiker in my tank today, Must have came in as a baby because I never saw him on any of the plants, nor have I seen him up till now.


Hes about 1/4 inch in length, brownish red with darker brownish marks on his shell, attached a pic.. but its rather blurry due to water being slightly cloudy today.


So is this a bad guy? or did I get a nice expensive snail for free?

Try to find it here http://applesnail.net/ in the "other" snail section. I can't tell from the picture, but resembles a nerite snail somewhat. Not sure.

It could be some kind of black mystery now that I think about it..

since I believe thats the majority of the snails the LFS I got these plants from had in their plant tanks...
