What should I do next in my fight against green hair algae My lights are metal halides only 5 months old I upgraded to a reef octopus skimmer about 2 months ago and I have it wet skimming I only use ro/di water I have a nitrate reading of about 10 ppm and my phosphates are showing 0 (I suspect the algae is using them all up to grow) Is a phosphate reactor in my future or should I consider carbon dosing?

Some foods are full of nitrates I use rod's food since they claim it doesn't need to be rinsed. I had an ugly hair algae out break when I got my rocks from craigslist with manual removal and water changes I was able to turn it around it took a couple of months.

I use a varity of foods cyclopeeze,Ocean nutrition flakes, and sallys san francisco bay frozen foods I have only been feeding every other day though
