what type of algae is this and why won't he eat it?

This algae started growing in my tank and my pleco won't eat it. I tried adding algae control to my tank and it ended up killing two of my fish. Anyone know what kind of algae this is and What should I do?

Dont use algeacides or other chemicals to control algea in stocked aquarium. These chemicals harm many other life forms including fish, inverts etc.

When problem algea occurs, options include UV sterilizers, improve water quality (water changes), or bigger/stronger filters including hang on back, canister options. Best option is introduce Live Plants.

Biggest reasons for algea, nutrient imbalance, too much lighting.
