quick question. my tank has very very very low ammonia levels and almost zero algae growth. i do water changes weekly, about 30 to 50 %. recently there has been a smell in my room where the fish tank is and my family is blaming it on the tank. is it possible for my tank to make my whole room stink?

IMO not a properly maintained one.
If it was my house and son I'd be looking for food shoved anywhere and everywhere. Not to mention wet towels and articles of clothes strewn, hidden, piled and generally discarded where ever for your mysterious odor !

That or areas surrounding your tank getting wet and starting to produce mold and mildew.

Also what are you feeding the fish?
I had one tank that smelled terrible even though the water conditions were perfect, I finally figured out it was the sinking carnivor pellets that was causing the odor.
