Which filter is best for my little friends?

I'm in the process of setting up a 10 gallon tank and I'm stuck between the aqua clear 20, penguin bio wheel 100, aqueon 10, or this tetra whisper 10i I have laying around, I'm trying to keep the media costs cheap and I want your guys 2 cents on which one I should get

just my honest opinion, I have had terrible luck with bio wheels. Noisy, parts burning up and the bio wheel itself never spun.

AC20 is what I run on my 5 and 10 and I'd highly recommend them.

Do you replace anything or how do you do your media?

I would replace the carbon with filter floss or purigen because carbon is not really needed.

I do AC sponge on the bottom, filter floss in the middle, bio balls on top. I also stick a small piece of sponge in empty left area of the filter.

Can you tell me how many inches the aqua clear 20 sticks out behind the tank I have limited space available

Excellent, I have about 2.5 inches give or take about a half inch
