I have a ghost shrimp that is turning white on his too half.. He is not hiding and has been in the front half of my tank most of the day... Why could be be doing this??

Mine did walked back and forth around the tank and then died. All his body turned milky white. Waiting for the reason as well. Hope your shrimp be okay.

Likely a sign of dying though I have heard of them living for a while after looking white.

How are your water parameters?

Do you have other shrimp and do any of them look whitish?

Does it look like it has a worm or ribbon looking thing in it in its head body area?

If so get it out of there and see if any others are like that?

my turns white just before he moults. I guess it's a bit like reptiles....they turn a cloudy colour when they are about to shed their skin. my shrimp has moulted about 4 times since I have had him and he goes between the ghost colour and white depending on if he is preparing to moult.
