I agree with Menagerie. Sexing does not always include the egg spots. There are several Africans that can not be sexed due to the spotting. The blackness or ventine is really the only way to sex them and you have to wait until maturity until they can be determined. I have a Lab that appeared to be a female due to the blackness. After about 6 months the blackness increased and now appears to be a male. Unless you plan on breeding them, I wouldn't worry about the sex. Labs are pretty docile.
