Yes, but if you're using the app (my fav), you'll have to go to your mobile browser to post the pic.

Here's some more in depth instructions (I just did this myself)
1-go to the website and login
2- click "user cp" in the blue bar at the top
3- on the left hand side click "change profile picture" or "change avatar"

I think the avatar is the one that shows up when you actually post

I don't think there is support even in the mobile browser to upload a pic from iPhone or iPad. Not sure on android - Mr. L would know better on that 1.

If you have pics in your album, flicker, etc... you can set a profile pic using the phone browser. Click the pic(enlarge) that you want to upload(from AA album, flicker, etc...) and then copy the URL. Then at AA, click "quick links", "edit profile" then "edit avatar"(left side). Paste the URL to "option 1". Then click save changes.
