I have both Saltwater and Freshwater fish. It is best to drip acclimate Saltwater fish as I have heard they are pretty sensitive and I have even had a death or 2, due to poor acclimation. I learned from this, and have exclusively drip acclimated all saltwater fish. Now, I want to avoid the same with freshwater. Is drip acclimating the best method for Cichlids? Or are they tough enough for me to float the bag, and poor in small amounts of water over the next hour or so?

The same rules apply really. The fish needs to slowly adjust to the new water chemistry so the osmoregulatory system can adjust accordingly.

The slower the acclimatisation period the better for the fish.

Happy cichlid keeping :)
