Mine did fine with a PH of 8.2. Just be sure to hardscape with Limestone / Texas Holey rock, it will push your PH to the upside and keep it there.

Thanks V. Any issues with coloration on your Cichlids at that ph. I’ve heard that higher ph and lighting bring out better colors. I’ve read somewhere that lighting spectrum should be 10k or more?
All of mine colored up nicely. This guy, Royal Dragon Blood Peacock was one of my most colorful. As for lighting, I use a Fluval mid level LED lighting system. Nothing too powerful but adaquate.
