Hello there,

I recently just stocked my 125 with NWC's with a pictus and a pleco. Tank has been running for about two weeks with no casualties. Today I noticed my pleco was dead. He was a tad smaller then the rest of the cichlids. He was about 2 in while the rest of the gang measure about 3 in and growing. I thought plecos were pretty hardy.

Could one or more of the other fish have killed him, or could it have to do with not having enough food? I was not dropping Algae Wafers.

Thanks

i have never had this happen to me with my chiclids. mine always tended to stay to the top. if they werent being fed enough they might have picked on him.

Also, pictus are rather agressive with other types of catfish and bottom feeders. you may want to try and get another pleco if you want, just know that the pictus will grow much faster then it and this situation may repeat later on down the road.
