Do cichlids always chase a new fish?

When intruding a new cichlid to a tank is it normal for all the other cichlids to chase it around for awhile? How long will this last?

Yes it is, because all the other fish have made there territories. What size tank? And what fish? (Mbuna, peacock, etc)

Yes and it is better to add several fish instead of just one.
In my case, the locals chase the new guys for about 3 days.
