F1 Maylandi Sulphur Heads

Can someone explain in detail what the "F1" refers to. The guy at my LFS explained it, but I can't remember.

F1 means that the parents of the fish were wild caught, it's a first generation captive bred fish basically

What do their verticals bars show? Like the spacing and straightness, if they do not cross or touch anywhere?

He mentioned something ab that, they are beautiful fish. I know he gets them from a private farm. No papers though, anyway thanks!
