Hey all, was wondering how I should be feeding my new cichlids? I've seen mature ones are fed twice or three times a day but I've seen that new ones, when they're younger, should just be once a day for a few weeks. There are three of them and I am using TetraColor Cichlid Pellets. Please and thank you.

Once a day probably applies to a new tank or one where you added many fish at once. This is to not overstetch your bacteria and have ammonia and nitrite spikes...

I feed my sa/ca at least twice a day and all my fry at least 3.

Important to not overfeed, any left over food becomes extra work for your bacteria.

Feed them then remove any left over food after 3-5 minutes after feeding.

After awhile you will get used to how much to feed at a time with minimal removing/waste.

I feed my fry 3 times a day, my juvies twice a day, and my adults 1 time a day. I also skip a day once in a while to let them clear out. Haven't had any trouble with over feeding yet. I also make sure to only feed what they can eat in a few minutes.
