I just bought one of each of these to add to my cichlid tank. Both are young but I was just wanting to hear from folks that have owned them before and your experience with them. It is my understanding that the calico is a hybrid, which I am ok with because the are still pretty fish. But I did not find a ton of info on them. I also am not great with all the scientific names used in the cichlid world so I am still learning. I am attaching a pic of the peacock I already have. What is the difference between all the peacocks? Are they just subspecies?

Never kept the other one. For the names Aulonocara would be a Genus the family of fish that they are classified under ( kinda like your last name). Their name like Protomelas taeniolatus ( red empress) would be the species name.

I think I got that right lol
