Today at work i was reading the may 2007 issue of Aquarium Fish International. There is a "Cichlid Forum" for general cichlid Q + A. There was a question about jewel cichlids i believe and there was a main caption saying "Persistent health problems often mean environmental woes."
On the page was a picture of a red zebra, and the caption of the picture was

"To be in the best health, fish should have their preferred water conditions, Malawi cichlids, such as Psuedotropheus zebra, like softer water with a low PH."

Am i missing something, i thought it was the other way around? This is verbatim from the magazine.

Sounds like a mix up to me. The jewels are riverine species and prefer the softer water, lower pH parameters-- but not the P. zebras.
