Mbuna Juvies beating on smallest

Is it normal for Mbuna to pick on the smallest fish in the group? They've took pieces out his caudal fin and scales from his body. They're pretty mean for vegetarians.

I can't speak to that, maybe they need a bit of meat in their diet. They may eat mostly vegetable matter but other foods especially if growing (just guessing, think I recall they were not strictly vegetarian)

You can keep the little guy safer by making a cage for him to stay away from the others. Like with needlepoint plastic square sheets / plastic canvas. And a couple fishing weights.
Favorite tank right now - 12G Edge nano fish

New to FW fish? First tank in a long time or EVER??? Need some info on keeping fish?
