I read that a variety of food is preferable, pellets, flacks and frozen foods.
I also read that blood worms or food with high proteins, are no good.

What do you feed your African Cichlids?
Do you prefer floating food or the ones that slowly drops to the bottom?

I feed all of my fish NLS sinking pellets. The cichlid formula or Thera A. I have fed African cichlids this for many years without a single case of bloat or any other dietary issue.

There are a lot of people that believe that fish need a variety of food but there is no data that backs this up. Modern high quality foods are designed to offer an appropriate blend of nutrients in a single food.

The common African rift lake cichlids are primarily Aufwuchs feeders and should not be fed foods too high in protein.

JBL pellets, Flake, JBL Novo Tanganyika flake, frozen blood worm, frozen brine shrimp, any of these are good, I only feed frozen once a week, thaw out in a drop of tank water, hope this helps, never over feed as you may know.......
