I've had a parrot cichlid now for about 2 months. I got him as a juvenile and now he's completely lost all his fake color(he was green when i bought him) and now he is a pale yellow color.

Are there certain parrots that are yellow or will he turn the dark blood red color i saw at the lfs the other day? The guy working the lfs told me that he would eventually be red but I'm having my doubts. It really sucks cuz a lot of my other fish are yellowish in color :(

I think that red is killer though.

Any parrot cichlid that is blue, green, or a number of other colors has been dyed as you know. The only true colors for the blood parrot (if that can be said considering they are not a natural fish found in the wild, rather a man made mutation) are light gold-orange, a deeper gold-orange, bright red, or any of those with black or white spots. Your guy is likely the first color mutation; I doubt it will get that bright red coloration. Some of the color morphs can be found here: http://geocities.com/parrotcichlid/general.html
