IMO, if your tank is cycled and you've got fish in it, go ahead and stock some corals! You can add them...daily if you want. They don't attribute to your stocking level in the sense that fish do.

Can't wait to see pics. :)

Thanks for the advice. I wish I could afford to add a coral each day!!! But it will probably be more like one frag every week or 2.

I LOVE my gramma so far. He's just started to feel comfortable enough to swim out in the open. I've actually been surprised at how little he hides. And he's beautiful!

LOL I know, I have only added 1 coral frag in my almost a year of having my tank just because they are sooo expensive :cry:

I am so glad your gramma is coming out! Mine only ever hides when he is spooked etc. and then he dives into his hole LOL

Ok, I tested the water again today and the results are pretty good.
pH= 8.0
ammonia= 0
nitrite= 0
nitrate= 10
SG= 1.025
I'm planning to do another water change tomorrow or Saturday.

I've got some new pics, but unfortunately my royal gramma has been in hiding for the past 2 days. I don't understand why he was out swimming around a couple days ago but now he hides so much that I thought he was dead.
Anyway, here are the pics.

Great pics! Thanks for updating. Remember, the yellow polyps will benefit greatly from feedings of cyclop-eeze. I use LiquidLife Marine Plankton in my tank for my cyclop-eeze source. Don't worry about the gramma, it should come out in a few days after it is settled. Waiting a few weeks between fish additions is a great plan.

I know, I am waiting a month before adding any other fish- can't remember who told me that but I think it was tecwzrd.

I didn't know that about the Cyclopeeze, I'll have to get some kinda soon I guess! Thanks for the tip.

The only thing that is throwing me off about the gramma is that he was out swimming and active a couple of days ago, looking like he had settled in... and now, this. I actually crawled around the floor last night with a flashlight looking under the dresser ("tank stand") for the body! I know he's in there though, I saw his tail today. :) I hope he doesn't starve in there just sitting in a hole in my rock.

I am sure your gramma will be fine, just make sure it gets a good balanced diet and you see it eat on occasion. It is still new to the tank so not really anything to worry about.

I am a big fan of the yellow polyp. For some reason I find it a very interesting polyp with its long tenticles that sweep in the current. Some Parazonzoanthids sp do not contain zooxanthellae so feedings of zooplankton foods is needed. ZooMax by Kent is okay, butI really like Marine Plankton by Liquid Life.

Great pics of the polyps BTW.

Cool, I've never heard of the Liquid Life brand. I'll see if I can get some ordered.

Do you feed once a week? More?

Thanks!

Nice pics!

Like Lando said, yellow polyps LOVE to be target fed, and feeding them and watching them eat is SO entertaining.

IME, they love high light. I slowly moved mine from the middle of the tank to the top of my HO-T5 tank, and they spread like wildfire.

Those zoos are really unique too, thanks for sharing!

Hmmm.... I read that they didn't necessarily need high light. I hope they do ok, because I'm only using a 65W PC strip over 15 gallons. :? I only have a limited amount of space in the tank, of course, so I didn't really want them to spread like wildfire! That's why I put them away from other rocks.

Well, I hope they survive under my semi-crappy lighting. It's the best I can do for now. :p

I lost my gramma this weekend. I got him eating at first, and then he just refused to come out of the hole in the rock that he was hiding in. :(

Today I sold a couple of tanks and bought a Fiji yellow leather and a sixline wrasse. I was going to try again with another gramma, but one of the sixlines there really caught my eye. He really doesn't seem to be that bothered by the transition today, and he's been swimming all over the place checking out the tank. :)

Here are some pics.

Friday night I added another small power filter to the left side of the tank, and put a bag of Purigen in the media chamber. I tested the water a little while ago, and everything looks pretty good.
pH=8.0
ammonia and nitrite= 0
nitrate= 5
SG= 1.025

Update: things are still going well, and I'm really liking the wrasse. Over the weekend, I moved the mushroom rock out of my pico into this tank, because the mushrooms weren't appreciating all the flow in the pico from being right under the filter outflow. Also, I added a small piece of clove polyps that broke off from a piece in the 2.5, and 2 margarita snails and a bumblebee snail from the 2.5. Yesterday afternoon I got a feather duster! It acclimated great and was out of the tube within minutes of being added to the tank.

So here are some updated pics. The Fiji leather is unhappy because I was messing around in the tank, it usually looks a lot better.

It is beginning to look like a reef! What do you all think?

I'd like to see some pics without the flash

Doesn't work so well really, I have a lot less light than you do! :p I'm only using a 65 W PC strip. Even with a tripod everything looks blurry.

No, you'd be surprised! :lol: I have a crappy temp job at the moment, and I spend over $100 per month in gas just to get there. But, I have an interview next week, and if I get the job... let's just say my tank's going to get a lot better!

Thanks!

I wish the tank didn't look like diatom hell right now! The snails I moved over don't seem to be cleaning it up. Maybe I should get a couple more snails? I heard astreas will eat diatoms, but I don't know if that is true.
