I think so! The pagoda on live aquaria is $50. The monti was $40 on LA. I'd say I did good. And I killed my first aiptasia! It was on the back of the monti. It did not like the hot water at all. *evil laugh*

He said it was a grape montipora. So hopefully it looks cool when it gets happy!

Ok! Pictures and a question and well... Planning for later.

Question: there were some baby aiptasia on the back of the monti. I used boiling water to kill them. The monti has turned white where the hot water got on it. So, do I leave the part that has most likely died or do I cut that part off?

Planning:
I'm going to get a single head frogspawn next. He wants $20 for those. Also, he has some really beautiful little purple and blue and green acroporas. I want a blue one! Can my par38 support that? I'd make sure I put it right in the middle up high so it would get the best light. He said he wasn't really comfortable selling me the acro because he wasn't sure if my lighting would support it. He had all his corals under MH lights.

Side note- he breeds clown fish. He had so many cute little baby clowns and a batch that just hatched yesterday! Super tiny! Apparently he trained his clowns to lay eggs on a plate and then he moves the plate w/ eggs to a 10gal so they can hatch.

Pictures! (The new zoas/palys haven't opened yet. They are starting to, but they are taking their dear sweet time I will get a pic later. )

Another of the pagoda. It's fully open now. It's my favorite so far!

The part that is white- should I leave it be or cut it off? I used hot water to kill aiptasia that was on the underneath side and that part turned white. I'm guessing that part died along with the aiptasia?

Is it white or a lighter purple...what lighting do you have again?

I take that back...either cut it off or glue over the dead area.

I will cut it off. Thanks Hank! I knew I was taking a risk with the hot water but I did not want that aiptasia in my tank.

Might as well cut off a small piece of the living as well and just glue it to something incase the dye off keeps spreading.

Here's what I got.

http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums...ture46249.html

If it has spread more in the morning I will cut off a piece not next to the dying part. I'm planning on putting a frogspawn I'm the same area as the monti. It won't be for a few weeks, but how far apart should they be?

Don't let them touch, ever. A frogspawn will mess up the monti pretty hard. Watch those areas on the edge. If it spreads some, just put some glue on them and it'll stop it. I've saved a couple of montis that way.

New FTS!

http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums...ture46295.html

I'm thinking when I get the frogspawn in a few weeks that I will put it on the left side of the zoas. Does anyone see any potential problems with that or have any suggestions as to how my coral are currently arranged? Everything can be moved right now except the zoas.

Thanks!!

I'm using a 12 watt LED par38. It has 4 white lights, 6 actinic blue, 1 red, 1 green. The red and green aren't necessary. I like it. It gives the whole room a nice purple light when all the house lights are off.
