Tank getting hot!!!

I have a 6gal jbj and have lately noticed that it's been getting really hot 81 to 83 degrees. I've put the heater way down but still gets hot. I did just move into a new place w/out central air but even when I run the window unit it doesn't seem to do much to cool it down. Any advice would be much appreciated. thanks in advance.

Get a small fan and blow it across the water surface. You should see a 3 or 4 degree drop.
