So I've just started cycling my saltwater tank and found some white web growing over my live rock. Can anyone identify what it is? And is it safe to have or should I get rid of it?

Thanks

It looks similar to the orange encrusting sponge that grows on the bottom of my live rock. Most likely it is harmless, especially if it stays in the shadows away from the corals. ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1418693614.949567.jpg

Increase your flow. Looks like a bacterial bloom IMO. Get another powerhead.

Thanks guys! I just looked at it again and it seems to have gone now. Something might have eaten it maybe? Or it could have just died? Anyway whatever it was its gone now.
