ligthting questions

concerning my post on t5 lighting
i was wondering if any one out there can give me advise on the following

at home depot and lowes i can get a single flouresent light strip cheap
will the ballast in these lights run a t5 10k daylight and/or atnic bulb?
i know i will have to change the end connectors
any ideas if it will work?

I'm no expert on T-5 lighting, but I thought they used electronic ballasts? If that's the case, then no those fixtures at home depot won't work...you'd have to change the end caps and the ballasts, pretty much using up the money you saved by using them.
