LR scrubbing

Is it safe to take LR out and scrub off algea? I am in the process of removing some of my hair algea and i thought i would strictly remove it from the rock. Of course i would use a SW bucket to scrub the rock in, but is this a safe idea

I don't see why it would hurt as long as it isn't rinsed with fresh water. What are you using to scrub it?

I figured i would use my girlfriends toothbrush

I have about 2 TB's i have used on other fish equipment before so i figure this is the best way!

Any other suggestions?

What type of algea is it?

It is some long hair green algea. I am reducing my phosphates so some is dying off and floating around the tank.
