Overflow questions

I'm thinking of making my own hob overflow and sump. I have an idea of not having overflow box on the outside. I would just get something to connect to U tube and run it all the way into the sump. Would this work? And would the siphon break during power outage?

Any comments are welcome.

Nevermind, I just realized that once power goes out, siphon would continue until siphon breaks which means water all over floor.
