Is it possible to use sand from the beach ? i mean its alive isnt it? can it kill the fishes?

What area of Flordia do you live in? I live in Panama City Beach and we took all our sand from the beach. The problem we had though was that we did not go out far enough and the sand had some chemicals in it that had to work themselves out.

I think the further out that you go, the better off you will be. Also, dont tell the folks at your lfs that you did that because the will give you a hard time about it if they are any good.

Just go out a bit to get the sand then. If you dive that is the best way to get it. Take a few friends out on a boat and dive for the sand, send up shipments. That will keep you from getting any bad things from the sand. Also make sure that there are not bad algae blooming (red tide type stuff) before you do it.
