Yeah... I'd say bad idea.

If You were going to use sand from the beach, I'd say you should go diving to get it not the stuff that people walk on, drive on, etc. Then I'd wash and strain the heck out of it....

But I'd say you'd do better to just go buy Aquarium sand at the LFS, its not all that expensive...

Oh I know its not expenive... and I aready have enough in my tank, just wondering because I hear of it all the time.

I gotta go with bad idea too!! Just think of all the kiddies that have been on the beach and what kiddies sometimes do after they have been in and out of the water....

bad idea. i dont think it would become livesand either due to it not containing the calcium and minerals other sand has... meaning more junk that doesnt get broken down

beach sand is to light for tanks i've already tried it's impossible to clean with a gravel vac and it goes black and stinky and horrible so yeah that's a no no
