what do you guys recommend for sand instead of live sand i think im deciding against the live sand???

Oolitic aragonite. Live sand is a waste of money and really accomplishes little to nothing. If using LR, your sandbed will quickly become seeded anyway. If not, it can be seeded from a healthy system that has never used copper.
