I am reading a little online now about algae eaters, how Chinese Algae eaters are only good at this task when they are young and how they grow rather large and can be aggressive.

Are there algae-eater types that stay smaller and unaggressive? I do have two way wonderful synodontis cats that pretty much have the run of the few hiding places in the tank...and I do not want to get a fish that will get in their way. Otherwise, I have a variety of tetras.

Thoughts?

Thank yous!

What size tank?

True Siamese Algae Eaters are marvelous with thread or hair algae (one eliminated every speck in my 55 within a few days) and they don't get terribly big, but are not really the best for a very small tank.

There are plecos that stay pretty small and do a good job, and otocinclus are the ultimate small, peaceful algae eater, but for me they eat only diatoms (brown algae) and don't help with the green stuff.
