I had been battling algae with limited success the last few weeks. I thought it was getting better (i pruned a lot of the plants way down), but after two days away, I saw a ton in my tank this morning. And a dead yoyo.

What the heck can I do here? Will a group of Siamese Algae Eaters help here?

Obviously I am in the process of a big water change, but i got zero readings on ammonia, nitrite and nitrate this morning.

It's really nasty.

Thanks for any advice!

Wow! That's a lot.

What are your nitrate levels? How often do you do water changes and how large? Do you vacuum the substrate? How long are your lights on? Are you dosing any fertilizers or nutrients for the plants?

Lights on for 10 hours from 8-6 (4x65 CFL). Change water weekly between 40-50% and vacuum the gravel. Cap and a half of flourish once a week and it is getting CO2 from a tank to keep the ph at around 6.7.
