Any recommendations about freshwater Refugium?

I just recently heard about using a refugium for freshwater tanks. I like the idea and was wandering if anybody had any experience with them. I am doing my research before setting up a 120 gallon planted tank for Discus and tetras.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

For freshwater I find their use to be limited at best. If you want something similar I would do a wet/dry trickle filter in a sump type setting. It's by far the most efficient type of filter for a freshwater tank.
