I have never owned rasboras before. I am looking for an interesting schooling fish for my 6 gallon planted nano that I will be setting up. I believe rasboras are schooling fish - please tell me if I am wrong.

Anyone have any experiences with these guys?

Yes, rasboras are schooling fish. I don't have any personal experience with that particular species, but didn't Devilishturtles buy some tiny rasboras a while back? The Galaxy rasbora maybe? I bet they are pretty similar. I'm sure you'd be fine keeping maculatus in your nano- that would look awesome. 8)

I have a swarm of maculata. I started them in a 5 gallon and they seemed unhappy, always swimmin' up and down the sides. They're in a 20 long now and act much more naturally. They are tiny, but active, and I think they need swim room.

The best fish I have found for a very small tank is Heterandria formosa, a small livebearer. They are more 'pick at stuff in the tank', rather than "SWIM LIKE HELL" fish, and look and act appropriate in a tiny space. I don't think schooling fish are a good choice for a small tank.
