Api master test kits

So I recently purchased a liquid test kit for my aquarium and did not notice that it was a saltwater master test kit and I have a freshwater aquarium.

Would I be able to use the saltwater Kit to check my ammonia nitrates and nitrites or will it give me false readings?

If you can return it and get the FW kit that would be great.
I always understood that the only difference was the color charts. However, I am not so sure about this.
