Hi all. I recently bought some artificial plants as my lights are fading and not good enough for real plants.
One of these artificial plants actually have real bamboo sticks. They are stuck into a solid pebble base. ..some of the sticks are filled and some are hollow. Hopefully my picture is clear enough. I am going to sound dumb now but I didn't realise they were real. I thought they were good looking fakes so I put them in after only a quick rinse.

I have now noticed a change in colour. They are darker.

My question is this...
Will the sticks degrade in the water?

I would assume that they would start to split and fall apart as I wouldn't think you'd manage to put treated timber into a tank due to the chemicals [emoji53].

Its a bit daft for a company to make artificial decorations with real wood
