My moss is covered with the stuff. The moss is pearling and still growing but I'm scared the algae will take it over. If I take it all out of the tank but it in a dark cup full of water for a couple of days will this help or hurt?

Thanks!

No, Phoenix moss or fissidens

I see. I was going to say Java moss can lice through just about anything and I wouldn't worry. Lol.
I have not kept Phoenix moss, so I don't want to give you any bad info. But, I will say that I have tried a straight black out for algae and really never had any luck with it. I had better luck with intermittent light cycles.
Do you know what type of algae you have? Depending on the type, amano shrimp are very good algae eaters and they cleaned up my java moss for me back when I had them.
