Clown loach behavior lol

Okay so I have clown loaches they are small about 1.5 inches, i finally witnessed the play dead thing (lmao), but here's the question, if they are grouped in the same section of say a piece of drift wood it looks like they are beating each other up, slamming their bodies into each other like humans would push another, Is this aggression or playing around?
