Decorative pebbles waxed?

I bought a container of polished river stones at the garden center today thinking that they would look nice in my aquarium. When I got home, I began rinsing them and the water beaded up like on a freshly waxed car! On close inspection, they actually have some type of coating on them that feels like wax. I don't think I will be putting these in the tank just in case it might be bad for the fish. Just letting people know, don't buy "Lucky River Stones" in the square plastic jar, and check out anything you plan to put in your aquarium thoroughly.

That is good to know, because a lot of people want to save money by getting things from the garden center, including me!
