A few days ago, put 4 Amano shrimp in my tank. Apart from a few odd sightings of one of them, they have vanished. Only possible predator would be Dwarf Sunset Gourami, but my local fish shop advises unlikely.

But there is a tank at the shop with Amanos and it is a hub of activity.

Any thoughts?

Are the Amanos that secretive? Nocturnal only?

Amanos require some decent hiding spaces. They love being up high in the tank, so if you can, give them branches to climb. They will need to hide right after molting because that's when they are at their most vulnerable.

Mine are out all the time, day and night. They'll literally steal away with an algae wafer that other fish are nibbling at. Little pigs.
