Gf messed up... Lol

So before I go to work I put the light in my tank on .... I expect my gf to take the light off but she sometimes forget since it's in the living room and out of her sight...I noticed brown algae growing on some of the decor as well as the corners of the tank ?? How to I get rid of this ??? Not turn on the light for a couple of days??

I would replace GF with automatic timer.

Use a timer as suggested and only run the tank 6 hours a day until the algae is gone. Then slowly increase the time by 30 minutes every couple of weeks. If you start to see algae the decrease your light by 30 minutes and that will be the amount of time you can run your tank daily without algae issues. You can always add a snail to help keep the tank clean. A nerite snail or two would work great and they can't reproduce in freshwater so you won't be overrun by snails.

I won't mind getting two snails but I have two bp parrots in a 55 ... That would be a problem, they are bullies.... Lol
