Tank looks nice! :)

Looks like you have bronze cories. IMO those get far too big and active for an eight gallon. The guppies can stay, but they cories go.
 
And a betta, right? Since there is one in the photos.. The cories just get too big for the tank. The betta and the guppies would be fine though. And the tank is looking great. :)
 
The betta and the guppies were fine but it was just a temporary holding place he's back in his own tank now and he's happy and I'm waiting to see if I can find snails ( jut got new plants) that I can put with him but probably not

Well that guy is either A. a liar or B. very uneducated about the fish he sells. Anyone who can do a quick google search for something like "bronze cory size" will see that guy is dead wrong. You can give the fish to a chain store like Petco or Petsmart and they will adopt them out for you. I know it stinks because you don't get your money back, but you just gotta look at it like you live, you learn. In the future you'll know to always research fish before purchasing them. ;)
