How many Honey Sunset Gourami in a 29?

Alright so Saturday I'm finally going shopping. I'm leaning towards the honey sunset gourami. The top level of my tank is just too open. So my question is: how many could I get? Maybe 2-3. I'm also thinking about getting some floating plants for them to hide in/around, good idea? My stocking list is already:
8 blackskirts, 4 kulhi loaches, 2 Bolivian rams, clown Pleco and some ghost shrimp. Thanks.

They're not that bad and in a big school they should even be less nippy. I would only get one gourami, as multiple gourami are aggressive towards each other.

IME my black skirt tetras leave my paradise fish alone (which has long flowing fins)

My blackskirts stick to themselves. But yes, you never know how they will act.
