i woke up to find a dead siamese algae eater on the floor. he obviously jumped sometime last night.

any ideas why? do they just jump? or is there something about my tank that might have made him want to jump or was he just plain suicidal?

currently treating for ich with temps between 88-90 degrees. i'm in the 3rd week of treatment and the ich seems to be gone. have increased oxygenation while treating.

tank parameters
ph: 7.0
kh: 10dkh
nh3: 0
no2: 0
no3: 12.5
po4: 2
co2 injection
dosing with macros and micros

I'm sorry to hear about your fish.

I don't have any experience with SAE's personally, but according to this site SAE's are quite jumpy. These sites also mention jumping:

It could be a problem with your tank, but I would say there is a good chance that it was just getting a little exercise and jumped in the wrong direction. You might want to put something over your tank to keep the others in.

last week my SAE jumped out(idk why) while i happened to be sitting at my computer which is next to the tank so i grabbed it and threw it back in :p and that's the only time it ever jumped out.

I've had 2 SAE's and I find them to be huge jumpers, they are extremly active and like to race around. I don't think he was suicidal, just normal. Keep tank well covered.
