Don't know of this has been resolved. But, I had the same issue in 135 gl and 45gl well established tanks. The manzanita sank well and after a month or so it began to grow that algae hair looking thing. I acquired some mollies to provide fresh live food for my cichlids and housed them temporarily in the tank with the manzanita. They took care of the problem immediately. In one tank I was able to leave them in their and the problem has not returned or at least the mollies don't give it a chance to sprought. .

Yes it's been resolved, the stump was removed and pressured washed and the fuzz hasn't returned in months.

Glad it's been resolved. I had the same grey/black fuzz appear on a peice of mopani that that been in my tank for many years. My pleco wouldn't touch the stuff at all though.

I took it out, scrubbed it well and boiled the mopani and it hasn't re-appeared.
