I switched my betta to a nice 10 gallon yesterday but he has spent all yesterday and this morning flaring at the background, his reflection in the thermometer, his reflection in the glass etc. Not sure he is happy. I don't have a lot of plants in it yet. But what worries me is he hasn't stopped stressing! He was in a 3.5 gallon and liked his cave and slept in his log I'm wondering if it is too big :/ He has 2 caves in it and his log.

what would you do? wait? put him back in his cozy 3.5 gallon?

I know he needs adjustment time but I don't wan tho stress him out.

Thanks
Jana

Oops I should say I moved everything from his old tank over. Filter/gravel/cave/plant/and log. I only added a new cave and 6.5 gallons of water.

I had a beta do that for a while. I'd just get some big plants in there, and in the meanwhile I'd cover the background. Thats usually where they see themselves. Do the same for the sides if you must.

This could be a fun opportunity for a java wall/Floor!!

Will do. For now he is just swimming back and forth like a dog that has developed OCD issues at the shelter

Nice! What kind of community is he in?

You could have a lot of fun building a tank around a beta.
