neon tetras????

I went to petsmart yesterday to exchange my tank. So while I was there my 3yr old wanted to look at the fish. And I saw the most awful looking neons I have ever seen. The shape was weird and the color was just awful. I remember falling in love with them when I first saw them 20 years ago when I worked at an LFS. But these fish just made me sad. The lfs that I get my fish from never has them in stock but always has cardinals so that it what I have been buying they have that color that I remember the neons having but obviously with more red.
So was that just a bad batch or are they all that washed out looking now?

Definitly a bad batch or petsmart is just not tskkng care of there fish. Because I have seen hundreds of neons at my lfs within the past month an they and they look beautiful. Was just a bad batch.

My lfs seems to sell out of the neons the day they hit the floor. unfortunately its never when I am there to get any!

Bad batch. I had some nice ones from a big box store at one time.
