I read that alot can be lost in the first few days of establishing them into a tank. True, false or over blown?

Yes it is true, captured ottos go through pretty bad care when shipped to the states. Thats why some ottos die withing the first 2 weeks in a tank. Ive read that once they are in the tank and healthy for at least two weeks, they are usually there to stay:)

I added 5 with plenty to eat. Only one survived the first 3 days. They're the only deaths I've had not due to genetics in the few months my tank has been up.

YES! They die often and fast. However once you get a healthy batch settled in they are tough as nails!

I'm glad I'm not the only one this happened too.

I bought 6 for two different tanks. I have 3 left. In one tank 2 died in 2 days, in the other 1 died in the first day. Bummer. I had no idea. Hoping the last 3 can hang on I have about a week to go - they sure are awesome fish!
